Islands of Adventure is one of the most technologically advanced theme parks in the world.

It features cutting-edge rides and attractions that will have you screaming for more.  Come and enjoy some of the world’s most dynamic roller coasters along with whimsical children’s rides that may remind you of when you were young.  Experience the sights, sounds, and thrills of a lifetime.

Islands of Adventure covers over 100 acres and consists of five distinctly themed islands and the Port of Entry.  Look for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which is scheduled to be open June 18th, 2010.  It will be a theme park inside a theme park.  You will be immersed into the adventures of the world’s most popular wizard.

Once you have entered Islands of Adventure get your Guide Map to help you navigate through the islands.  Check your map for times and locations to meet your favorite characters.  Look for the Marvel Super Heros including Spider-Man, Dr. Seuss’ Cat In The Hat, Popeye, Bluto, and more.

Port of Entry – This is where the adventure begins at Islands of Adventure.  Once you step through the front gate of the park you are immediately transported to worlds away.  The Port of Entry does not have any rides but the architecture and attention to detail in the buildings is breathtaking.  The area was designed to have the appearance of an old Port Town.  The street is lined with unique shops and eateries and is the most photographed area in the park.  Since you have to go out the same way you came in to Islands of Adventure, we suggest doing your shopping on the way out of the park.  This way you don’t have to carry your treasures around all day.  For full service dining look for Confisco Grille.  Croissant Moon Bakery, Cinnabon, and Arctic Express are also located in the Port of Entry area.

Seuss Landing – This is where the beloved children’s books of Dr. Seuss come to life before your eyes.  This fanciful area is awash with Color and Seussian Whimsical Architecture & Music.  Seuss Landing was designed with the little ones in mind, but anyone who read Dr. Seuss as a child will enjoy the nostalgic fun.  Don’t let the little ones miss any of the four rides in Seuss Landing: The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride, The Cat in the Hat, Caro-Seuss-el, or One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.  They will also enjoy the interactive play area, If I Ran The Zoo.  For dining in Seuss Landing look for Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendous, Green Eggs and Ham Café, Hop on Pop Ice Cream Shop, and Moose Juice Goose Juice.

The Lost Continent – This mysterious island combines mystical elements and ancient mythical legends.  The island features an ancient Grecian Temple with falling ruins, a busy North African Bazaar, and a medieval English village from the days of King Arthur.  Adventure awaits you around every corner.  For all you adrenaline junkies, Dueling Dragons is located on this island.  Tour the remains of the ancient Temple of Poseidon in Poseidon’s Fury and check your map for show times at The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad.  Make a wish in The Mystic Fountain in Sindbad’s Village.  For full service dining look for Mythos Restaurant.  The Frozen Desert and the Fire Eater’s Grill are also located on The Lost Continent Island.

Jurassic Park – This Island was 65 million years in the making.  The famous novel and motion picture come to life with dinosaurs and man co-existing for the first time anywhere outside of the movies.  You never know what is going to jump out of the lush landscape.  For a close-up look at one of the Island’s T-Rex residents, ride Jurassic Park River Adventure.  The Island is also home to a replica of the visitor’s center that was destroyed by the dinosaurs in the movie.  It is known as the Jurassic Park Discovery Center where kids can learn more about dinosaurs and see Raptor eggs hatching.  Pteranodon Flyers is also located in Jurassic Park along with the prehistoric playground, Camp Jurassic.  For dining in this area your choices are The Burger Digs, Thunder Falls Terrace, and Pizza Predattoria.  If you lose any adults in your group, look for The Watering Hole.  It is a full service walk-up bar with daily Happy Hour Specials.  They also have non-alcoholic Frozen Drinks.

Toon Lagoon – The Sunday Funnies come to life on this Island.  Toon Lagoon is where everyone’s favorite cartoon characters live when they are not in the Sunday Comics.  The whole Island is filled with Cartoon Images.  There are many good photo opportunities that can put you in your favorite Comic Strip.  Hop on a log and ride Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls then jump over to Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges (prepare to get wet on both of these rides).  Rest your feet while the kids play on Popeye’s 3-story ship: Me Ship, The Olive.  Toon Trolley Beach Bash & King’s Row & Comic Strip Lane are also located in Toon Lagoon.  Your dining options in this area are Comic Strip Café, Cathy’s Ice Cream, Blondie’s, and Wimpy’s.

Marvel Super Hero Island – Enter this gleaming Comic Book City where your favorite Super Heroes battle against the world’s most diabolical Super Villains.  The streets are filled with large murals of your favorite Marvel Super Heroes.  The loud rock music played in the streets gives you an idea of the Island’s personality.  This Island is home to 2 of the most thrilling rides in Central Florida.  Put your 3-D glasses on and experience The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.  This ride has been voted as one of the best theme park rides on the planet.  For all you thrill ride snobs, you can’t miss riding the Incredible Hulk Coaster.  Something has gone wrong with Dr. Bruce Banner’s gamma-ray accelerator and suddenly you are catapulted in the sky from zero to 40 mph in two seconds.  Dr. Doom’s Fearfall and Storm Force Accelatron rides are also on this Island.  Check your Guide Map for Marvel Super Hero appearances in this area.  For dining in this area look for Cafe 4 and Captain America Diner.
