Tinker Field is a baseball stadium that dates back to 1923.

From 1923 to 1933 it served as the spring training home of the Cincinnati Reds.

The Brooklyn Dodgers trained here in 1934 &1935 and for years the Minnesota Twins AA affiliate played at Tinker Field.

Tinker Field represents Orlando’s rich sports and entertainment history and on May 14th, 2004 it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.  It was named after Baseball Hall of Famer Joe Tinker, who played for the Chicago Cubs then retired and moved down to Orlando.  He was of the “Tinker to Evers to Chance” fame.

The original stadium had approximately 1,500 wooden seats.

The present Tinker Field configuration dates back to 1963 and has approximately 5,000 seats.  It is adjacent to the Florida Citrus Bowl and the football stadium hovers over right field.

Through the years Tinker Field has seen a lot of baseball played on its turf and it has been host to many events.  In 1964, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at a rally at the field.

Tinker Field is owned by the city of Orlando and is operated by Orlando Venues.  It shares parking with the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium and is just off highway 408.  The 2 stadiums are just west of I-4 and north of 408.  Downtown Orlando is just east of I-4.

Tinker Field was built as a baseball field, but it can be used as a venue for concerts and other outside events.  If you want to see some of Orlando’s rich sports history, go to an event at the Florida Citrus Bowl or Tinker Field.
