The new face of today’s entertainment at Universal Orlando Resort is Blue.

The Blue Man Group brings their Experimental Rock and Performance Art to The Sharp AQUOS Theatre located at Universal CityWalk.

They are known all over the world for their unique form of entertainment combining music, comedy, and multimedia theatrics with an emphasis on percussions.  They currently have shows in New York, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, Tokyo, Stuttgart, Berlin, Oberhausen, and Orlando.

The Blue Man Group is comprised of 3 performers.

One of their main characteristics is their static appearance with their earless bright blue head and the nondescript clothing.

The Blue Man Group does not communicate through speech, but does show signs of curiosity, surprise, and wonder through their eyes and body language with the intense motivation to drum.

The shows are family oriented, humorous, energetic, and sometimes display a thought provoking satire on modern day life.

Phil Stanton, Chris Wink, and Matt Goldman founded the Blue Man Group in 1988.  They were a trio of mute performers called The Blue Men.  They presented themselves in blue grease paint over latex bald caps wearing black clothing while playing a mixture of peculiar percussion instruments.  When they were discovered on the streets of Manhattan, they were commissioned to create a full-length show resulting in the critically acclaimed, “Tubes.”  This led producers to take the show to off-Broadway’s Astor Place Theatre in New York City.  “Tubes” opened in 1991 and the Blue Man Group has been a part of the New York City scene since.

Construction began on The Sharp AQUOS Theatre in November of 2006 shortly after the announcement that The Blue Man group would be moving to Universal CityWalk.

The original occupant for the theatre was Nickelodeon Studios from 1990-2005.  The Sharp AQUOS Theatre opened on June 6th, 2007 and The Blue Man Group has been entertaining audiences at Universal Orlando Resort ever since.

The theatre is located between the largest Hard Rock CafĂ© in the world and the entrance to Universal Studios Florida.  You are able to enter The Sharp AQUOS Theatre from the inside of Universal Studios Florida and from Universal CityWalk.  You do not have to pay admission to Universal Studios Florida to see The Blue Man Group.

The Sharp AQUOS Theatre is ADA compliant with 13 ADA seats located throughout the theatre as singles and pairs allowing guests to purchase additional seats next to each ADA seat.  There are some handicap parking spaces located in the Universal Orlando Resort parking garages connected to CityWalk.  Call 407-BLUE MAN (258-3626) for more information on accessible seating and handicap parking.

If you are not staying at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, or Loews Royal Pacific Resort, guests going to see The Blue Man Group should park in the Universal Orlando Resort parking structure.  Parking is FREE after 6:00:pm except on designated special event nights.  Daily parking rates are $12 for Cars, Vans, and Motorcycles and $15 for Buses, RVs, and Cars with Trailers.  Valet Parking is available for cars and vans at a charge of $20.

There are approximately 1,000 seats in The Sharp AQUOS Theatre, which are organized into 5 different sections.  The front 4 rows of the theatre, closest to the stage are called the Poncho Section.  You guessed it.  It is called the Poncho Section because The Sharp AQUOS Theatre provides ponchos to these poor innocent people that decide to sit close to the stage where materials from the show have been known to leave the stage.  They suggest not wearing dry-cleaned clothes in this section.

Before you enter the show area you must go through the Blue Man Group themed lobby.  The lobby has a full concession counter with snacks, cold drinks and a full bar.  They do have a Blue Man specialty drink called the Electric Blue Lemonade that is available with or without alcohol.  You are able to take your snacks and drinks to your seats to enjoy during the performance.

The on site Box Office opens 10:00am daily.  The Blue Man Group Phone Center is open 7:00am to 7:00pm eastern time 7 days a week.  Call 407 BLUE MAN (258-3626) for more information and to buy tickets over the phone.  Ask the operator how you can save money when purchasing a combination of theme park tickets, Blue Man Group tickets, and a CityWalk Party Pass.  That will allow you to visit Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure during the day, see The Blue Man Group in the evening, and dance the night away at Universal CityWalk.
