The Peabody Auditorium has celebrated its 61st year in the “new” building.

Located in Daytona Beach, the original structure was built in the 1920s and was host to many of that era’s renowned entertainers including John Philip Sousa and his marching band.  In 1945 a fire destroyed the original Auditorium and a new one was rebuilt in 1949.

The Peabody Auditorium was named after benefactor Simon J. Peabody and was dedicated in 1949 with a concert by the U.S. Navy Band.

This historic building is home to the Daytona Beach Symphony Society and the Daytona Beach Civic Ballet.  It has been host to many of the largest Broadway theatrical touring productions in the country.

Many of the past and present top entertainers in the world have graced this stage. From Red Skelton to Jerry Seinfeld, Tony Bennett to Liza Minelli, Liberace to Willie Nelson, and yes (drum roll please) Elvis has left the building.

The Peabody Auditorium is located across the street from the Ocean Center.  It is walking distance to the Ocean Walk Village, which is adjacent to the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort.  You cannot see the Pacific Ocean from the Peabody but you can smell the sea breeze in the air.

The seating capacity for the auditorium is 2,521.  The orchestra level has 1,518 seats, the loge has 497, and the 2nd balcony has 506 seats.

The auditorium is known for not having any seat with an obstructed view of the stage. The acoustics are exceptional which make the Peabody Auditorium the perfect concert hall.

The Peabody Auditorium has a spacious lobby of 4,000 square feet and offers a 2,400 square foot reception hall, which can be reserved for special events.  The concession stands and restrooms are located in the lobby area and are easily accessible.

The auditorium is equipped to accommodate guests in wheel chairs along with their companion.  For more information on special seating arrangements, call the box office at 386-671-3461.  There are handicap parking spaces in the auditorium parking lot on the south side of the building.
