Top Ten Thrill Rides at Walt Disney World

1.  Expedition Everest  -  Expedition Everest is located in the Asia part of Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.  Climb aboard the old railway train as it is bound for Mount Everest.

   Beware of the beast, The Yati.  He lives in the Forbidden Mountain and he is very hostile to intruders.  He will stop at nothing to turn you BACK.









2.  Twilight Zone Tower of Terror  -  The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is located in the Sunset Boulevard area of Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Take a ride on the freight elevator as you enter from the eerie boiler room in the basemant of the once glamorous Hollywood Tower Hotel.  Once you have stepped on to the elevator, you have crossed over into the ........... Twilight Zone.

   The elevator is located beyond the fifth dimension and will plunge down the dark elevator shaft.









3.  Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith  -  Get ready to Rock on the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios located in the Sunset Boulevard area.  Jump on the Super-Stretch Limousine provided by the band Aerosmith, as you race to the bands next gig in LA.

   The limo ride starts at a stand still then accelerates with the force of a supersonic F-14.  You will go from zero to 60 miles an hour in 2.8 seconds.  As you race past California Landmarks and slice through some of the toughest Los Angeles traffic, you will swoop through 3 inversions.  "Lovin' it up 'til I hit the Ground".









4.  Mission: SPACE  -  Get ready to blast off on Mission: SPACE located at Future World in the Epcot Theme Park.

   Become an Astronaut in Training as you prepare for your trip to Mars.  This is a motion simulator ride that realistically mimics what an Astronaut may experience during a space flight to Mars.

   Some experts say it is about as close to the real thing as you can get without leaving our planet.  You are given the choice of the Orange Team or the Green Team.  The Orange Team will ride the original version.  It is much more intense and you will experience forces up to 2.4G.  If you are prone to motion sickness, you may want to join the Green Team.









5.  Space Mountain  -  Space Mountain is the granddaddy of Thrill Rides at Walt Disney World.  It is being refurbished and is set to re-open November 21st, 2009.  It is located in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom Park.

   Blast off into outer space in your sleek rocket shaped vehicle.  Ride through the remote darkness of the universe only illuminated by shooting stars, celestial satellites, spinning black holes, and shimmering costellations.









6.  Soarin'  -  Soar above the natural wonders of the Golden State of California on the multi-passenger Hang Glider that is faced by a giant IMAX screen that wraps around you.

   Feel the wind in your hair as you fly over orange groves, evergreens, and the rolling hills of California Wine Country.  At one point you fly so low that you can splash your feet in the waves of the Pacific Ocean.  Soarin' is located in the Land Pavilion at the Epcot Theme Park.









7.  Test Track  -  Test Track is a high-speed vehicle simulation attraction and is one of Disney's longest and fastest rides.  It is located in the Test Track Pavilion in Future World of Epcot.

   Strap yourself in and experience bumpy roads, 50-degree banked curves, hair-pin curves, and speeds up to 60 miles an hour.  Learn from the crash-test dummies on what NOT to do when riding in a car.









8.  Splash Mountain  -  This is one of the 3 Magic Kingdom Mountains sharing with Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. 

   Splash Mountain is located in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom Park.  It is a flume ride with big thrills for the young and old.

   Follow Br'er Rabbit as he outwits Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox on his way to his Laughing Place.  Splash Mountain has 3 dips as it leads to the grand drop down 5 stories of rushing water.

   If you want to get wet, sit in the front or the right side of the hollowed out log.









9.  Big Thunder Mountain Railroad  -  Come visit the Gold-Mining town of Tumbleweed as you ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  It is located in Frontierland at the Magic Kindom Park.

   It is a mild but wild ride that rounds out the 3 Magic Kingdom mountains in Walt Disney World Resort.  Keep your eyes out as you go through the gold-mining camp and desert landscape for critters and Old Western scenes.









10.  Star Tours  -  Embark on your very own Star Wars adventure with Star Tours at Disney's Hollywood Studios Theme Park.  This is a full motion flight simulator attraction based on the Star Wars Mythology. 

   Ride along with the absent minded droid, RX-24, as he takes a wrong turn and bounces around the vast solar system and eventually comes face to face with the dreaded Death Star.

   This ride is the main attraction during Star Wars Weekends in part of May and June.
