"GIVE A DAY, GET A DISNEY DAY."
Disney is offering a FREE day's admission to 1 million guests who complete a day of volunteer work next year.
The "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" program will provide certified volunteers with a one-day ticket to any park at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, or Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida, in 2010.
Disney is partnering with HandsOn Network, a clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities, to connect people with projects and to certify that the work was done. This is a great program for the non-profit organizations because of their increased needs in this weak economy.
HandsOn Network has 70,000 affiliated agencies, from Habitat for Humanity to local food banks, churches, health care centers, and educational programs. Once their service is verified by HandsOn, volunteers print out an online certificate that can be redeemed at a Disney park.
Volunteers must register online with Disney and must be residents of the United States, Canada or Puerto Rico to be eligible for the FREE admission. The work must be performed in 2010, and the park visit must take place by December 15th, 2010. Participants must be 18 years old or older to sign up for the program, but volunteer work done by children ages 6-17 qualifies for a FREE ticket as long as kids are accompanied by an adult when volunteering. Un-used admission certificates can be donated to a charity designated by Disney.

Want to ride a FREE limo the next time you visit Downtown Orlando?
Orlando is one of the first cities in the United States to provide FREE Rapid Bus Transportation in their downtown area. This system was developed to reduce car traffic and congestion in the downtown area, allowing people to park only once per day then ride the bus to different destinations in the city.
In 1997, Orlando converted their bus system to the LYMMO Bus Rapid Transit system. The LYMMO runs 7 days a week and it is FREE. The operations are funded through proceeds from downtown parking garages. The majority of the initial cost went towards purchasing vehicles and creating infrastructure such as street reconstruction, shelters and an automatic vehicle tracking system.
The LYMMO service features:
- Exclusive lanes for the entire route (2.3 miles), including physical barriers from general traffic
- Signal priority
- Stations with large shelters and route information
- Automatic vehicle location (AVL)
- Next bus arrival information at kiosks
- Clean-diesel, low-floor buses manufactured by Gillig
- Distinct marketing and image development through vehicle graphics, stations, ads and business tie-ins
- FREE fares
- Transit TV network

Bear The Green Dog's Green Tip Of The Week
Trick or Treat Bear
Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. It is a time when It's OK to try to scare humans and cats, which is right up my alley.

The best part of Halloween is when my human parents put a really cool costume on me and I get to go Trick-or-Treating. This year I wanted to be Captain Hook.
When your little ghosts and goblins go Trick-or-Treating this Halloween, have them use re-usable bags or containers that don’t need to be thrown away after this awesome night of people giving away snacks for free.
Cloth or canvas shopping bags, or even pillowcases, make good eco-friendly alternatives to paper or plastic bags.

Americans use more than 380 million plastic bags and more than 10 million paper bags every year. Plastic bags end up as litter, kill thousands of marine mammals annually, and break down slowly into small particles that continue to pollute soil and water. During production, plastic bags require millions of gallons of fossil fuels that could be used for fuel and heating. Paper bag production consumes more than 14 million trees annually in the United States alone.
Another Green idea for Halloween is to mix in some Apples and Oranges with your chocolate and candy treats. I would suggest to only give out eco-friendly Apples and Oranges, but you might get egged by the neighborhood kids when they don't get their candy.
I really enjoy a good Apple, especially with Carmel Dip!!!
